Step Two: Tell Your Neighbours

These proposals have happened so quickly and silently that most of the community has no idea this is happening. Share this site, mention it at the school gate, post it in your local group. Awareness is the whole battle right now.

Step Three: Object When It Counts

When the time comes we all need to individually submit our objections in our own words. We’ll give you the evidence and can help you with what to say. Keep in mind, generic templates or copy-and-paste objections get discounted – we’ll guide you through all the steps when the time comes.

Consultant engaged

We have researched and engaged a consultant to produce a report on the land and is experienced in producing this type of report. We have used some of the gofundme money to pay for this.

We have received the first draft and will provide further details soon when we have reviewed and got the final version.

Objections

Please note that objections need to be presented in a specific way using more legal based wording to require the council to justify the development. if you say things like “There are too many homes or it will create too much traffic.” then this won’t be considered as part of the objection. This is not a vote based process but a specific objection..

425 Homes. One Country Lane.

Coopers Lane Road is 5.5 meters wide, national speed limit, with no footpath along most of its length. The council’s own plan can’t find a safe walking route so astonishingly it proposes sending pedestrians through a primary school’s grounds instead.

Services already at capacity

The development is being proposed by Welwyn Hatfield Council. The schools, GP surgeries and resulting traffic would impact people in in Potters Bar – a different council area entirely. Potters Bar’s resources are already stretched! Tried booking a GP visit recently? Can Potters Bar absorb this extra pressure.

Irrecoverable Damage

The proposed field is Green Belt and is a designated Local Wildlife Site. Amongst the many flora and fauna in the field are deer, badgers, owls and multiple species of bat. The site is within a conservation area and has Ancient woodland on it’s border. Is this really the best site for such a development.

This will also cause noise pollution dirt and dust for many local people including 100 or more elderly residents of Coopers Croft and Cuffley Manor care homes that live there and cannot escape from the building for respite. Nearly all have some form of dementia. This will diminish their quality of life and in particular they will be unable enjoy the current tranquillity of the outdoors and countryside in the gardens of the homes in their twilight years.
